I know it cannot be just me, however is it not astounding in the extreme
that so very little is being said about this disaster of immense
proportions????

This article sums it up very well for me:
http://www.naturalnews.com/031963_radiation_exposure.html#ixzz1IdhtJIY

This is insane and so horribly tragic. Sea water does not disperse
radiation any more than the soil, air or water disperses any toxic
contaminants. The compounds that make up all man made toxins are simply
dispersed (into soil, food, fat, muscle, blood, water etc etc) they do not
cease to exist, nor do they cease to cause irreparable damage simply because
they have been 'dispersed'.

Furthermore, All this talk of climate change and now disturbingly,
'tweaking' the climate is another insanity,
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/environment/news/article.cfm?c_id=39&objectid=10717764&ref=rss
these
are desperate acts to explain and control the uncontrollable.
The planet is a living being, cow poo (although dirty dairy farming
practices do contaminate a shocking amount of waterways and lakes), and
aeroplanes are not creating the shifts in climate.

How is it that mention is rarely made of burning coal in industry, toxic
substances used in manufacturing, the thousands of chemicals that have been
released into the environment that attack the endocrine system, hormone
mimics, pesticides, plastic and agri chemicals - the list is endless. Lets
look on the bright side, there are some fantastic innovations happening and
that is encouraging. We all have a responsibility to live as lightly as
possible on the earth, which is achievable to varying degrees...

I recall reading my natural history books from a young age. I loved those
books and I spent many hours reading them. One of my favorites was geology
and I remember looking at the pictures of the earths continents and
wondering, "if all those changes have happened over time, who is to say it
won't happen again, how can they stay like this forever (the landmasses)?"
Well exactly! it is going on right now, and it will continue to do so at an
increasing rate. However there is a message - we cannot control, and we have
violated this planet. Earth is alive, she is waking up, the earth is heating
*up from the inside* - what is going to happen when more earthquakes and
tsunamis damage further nuclear reactors? not to mention radioactive waste
dumps, mining waste sites, and toxic waste sites in general. and that is
just the tip of the iceberg, pardon the pun.

Humility, unity, harmony, respect - where are these attitudes to the earth?

There is no controlling unlimited power

Peace
I'm off to enjoy this lovely Sunday morning : )
--
Sarah Silverstar
www.oceanaware.info
This delightful piece of propaganda was in the *Waiheke Marketplace July 7th
2010*.
Note the timing for winter, when in 2009 hundreds of fish, dozens of
penguins, several dolphins and a dozen dogs (seriously ill, some died)
washed up dead in the inner gulf and Auckland beaches directly following a
brodifacoum drop on Rangitoto and Mototapu Island. This 'warning' needed to
be re-issued (falsely of course) last winter in case a few people pondered
on the non emergence of any toxic slugs and subsequent deaths, which of
course have not happened since the drop.

This is an absolute gem, let's see if this topic re-emerges this winter,
especially in light of the proposed Shakespeare Regional Park drop.

"The Auckland Regional Council is re-issuing a warning over toxic sea slugs,
found to be re-invading water at Gulf beaches. The creatures were spotted
during a recent dive survey at Long Bay, Browns Bay Narrow Neck Beach,
Cheltenham, Bayswater, Mission Bay and Illiomama Rock - near Rangitoto. A
total of 94 grey side gilled slugs were found, and samples from each
location tested positive for teterodotoxin (TTX), a poison that caused death
and illness in dogs last winter. Councils are routinely patrolling
local beaches to spot any more specimens while investigations into what is
making the slugs more poisionous continue.
During August and September last year 15 dogs became unwell with symptoms
consistent with TTX poisioning after eating sea slugs at Hauraki Gulf
beaches. Six of the dogs died.
ARC environmental monitoring group manager Grant Barnes said last year sea
slugs were not common, but could occasionally be found washed up on beaches,
including those on Waiheke. Now the Auckland Regional Public Health Service
is re-issuing advice to Hauraki Gulf beach users. Children and pets need to
be supervised - parents should watch where their children are swimming or
playing, and what they are handling. Adults children and pets should not
eat anything found washed up.
The service warns sea slugs are dangerous and people who find any should
mark the spot and call the city or regional council for the creatures to be
collected safely.
Visit www.arc.govt.nz/seaslugs or www.arphs.govt.nz "

What a masterpiece! and what short memories people appear to have. And
isn't it just as well, for that is what the authorities who spin this
nonsense rely on! You may note that there is no mention of the coinciding
poison aerial drop that resulted in not just dogs, but many species of birds
and marine life in the Gulf to die.
May I reiterate - THERE ARE NO SUCH THING AS TOXIC SEA SLUGS. They simply
do not exist. Yes, absolutely there are sea slugs in these regions, (in
large numbers according to past scientific surveys) however they are utterly
harmless and not in the least bit toxic.

If there is any such thing as a toxic sea slug, (which there is NOT), they
are only toxic due to having laboratory synthesised (man made) TTX injected
into their bodies. That way if they are ever tested by an independent party
(yeah right) then they will be shown to contain TTX.. Sound nuts? - not
really, just look at the lengths gone to already to deny and cover up the
fact that the brodifacoum bait dropped on Rangitoto contained 1080 and kills
wildlife on a broad scale (as it has done overseas: Hawaii, Alaska).

I won't go on and on about this delightful piece of misinformation, however
consider this: if this is what is said about a relatively 'minor' event that
barely scratches the surface of national news, then what else goes on??
it's pretty mind boggling, however hardly a new thing to consider.

Next topic - Horse Mussels. Millions have washed up dead on Waiheke
beaches....

--
Sarah Silverstar
www.oceanaware.info
This is from Poison Free NZ - sadly I am not in the least surprised that
this got approved, now all we can do is watch the carnage unfold when they
do the drop. It's OK though, because the valiant Sea Slug is standing
faithfully by to act as a scapegoat.

"Poison-Free New Zealand"
www.enufisenuf.co.nz

The application for the Brodifacoum Drop on Shakespeare Open Sanctuary has
been granted.
As many of you know the application for the poison drop has been granted.
We presented an incredible case against the drop, and I'm sure if the
commissioners at the hearing were truly independent the application would
never have been granted.
After consultation with FOE, we have sadly decided not to appeal this
decision.
The recent changes in the appeal proceedings could have resulted in huge
financial implications, and the chances of winning an appeal would be low.
I'm really disappointed and frustrated about this.

I have changed the online submission to our ministers.
A concerned southland resident has contacted me - apparently rats have made
it ashore to Ulva Island, (part of Stewart Island NZ) and so an aerial drop
of Brodifacoum is on the agenda. This seems like excessive tactics to me,
especially given the pristine and previously predator free status of the
island. Surely strategic bait stations along the coastline where the rats
were seen/already trapped (?) would suffice?

Dropping poison by helicopter to kill a handful of rats, meanwhile killing
of hundreds of native birds that the island acts as a sanctuary for, appears
ludicrous and totally heavy handed.

This is from the "Island of Tranquility" website: www.stewartisland.co.nz
Ulva Island

Ulva Island is a pristine forested island situated within Paterson Inlet. It
is managed by the Department of Conservation and supported by the Ulva
Island Charitable Trust as an open island sanctuary. It is one of the few
predator-free sanctuaries in New Zealand. Open to the general public,
whether it be for a family picnic or for anyone interested in native birds
or flora. Its well maintained tracks offer easy walking for most people and
gives one the opportunity to enjoy the birds, lovely beaches and views.
Guided walks are also available.

The island, which covers an area of 269ha is a 10 minute ride by boat from
Golden Bay. Although it has no permanent inhabitants, about 7.6ha is
privately owned. Please respect their privacy.

The Ulva Island Charitable Trust are a group of
dedicated Stewart Islanders who help to raise funds for tracks and
infrastructure and assist with bird releases and research work.

Since the eradication of rats, Ulva Island has become our ‘Jewel in the
Crown', offering a predator-free environment for rare and endangered birds
including South Island Saddleback, Yellowhead, Rifleman, Stewart Island
Robin, Stewart Island Brown Kiwi. See the
‘Birds'
section for more information.

--
Sarah Silverstar
www.oceanaware.info
Hello to all my readers! Yes I am back, my baby son is 6mths old now, so it
is time to begin and expand on what I have already started, I look forward
to it!

Thank you so much for all the comments, they are greatly appreciated. I had
no idea how many log in so it is a bit like writing into a void... talking
to myself - nothing new then lol
So again, thank you!
At this stage, due to a variety of factors I have no direct access to my
website to make changes, only my blog. I am going to get onto this soon, I
am currently going with the flow a bit as you do. I went through 2
computers (crashed) and 2 web programmes previously, so all is still very
basic. I have some people here on Waiheke whom I can approach to get this
moving and sorted.

*I am working on a new research report*. I have 16 pages of notes so far,
and that is barely scratching the surface, so it is exciting and a work in
progress, I am taking little bites, and motivation comes and goes, with
other aspects of life. Another big piece of news is that I have a
multifunction at last - wow! Yes finally, so the lab "results" that I have
will be posted to the site as soon as I can access it myself.

Over the next week I will write a small piece on sea slugs to get the juices
flowing again so to speak! Yes I look forward to that, it will be a tasty
little number - unless of course you are a dog, dogs and sea slugs don't get
on apparently ; )

Cheers everyone!
OceanAware

--
An interesting spectacle to say the least. It was a great relief that
many well informed, excellent speakers were able to share a snippet of
their knowledge and understanding of the events in the gulf -
knowledge that blatantly contradicted the slick propaganda on offer by
the authorities I might add...

The yacht club was filled to capacity, with standing room only. We
estimated at least 250 people. This level of concern was perhaps a
surprise to the authorities present, however it is overall very
encouraging - people are aware and want answers. Even those who were
present with little knowledge or opinions of the events, and who
simply wanted to find out if the beaches will be safe this summer (a
question they were NOT able to answer), quite likely left with a new
awareness that all is not what it seems or is claimed by Doc, the
health board and ARC.

My verdict? LIES, LIES and Half truths. On many occasions information
was given as fact that completely contradicted scientific information
available. Sea slugs are a scape goat. Penguins containing
brodifacoum are dismissed as a 'surprise', that died of starvation. A
dead dolphin found in a pool of blood (sounds like proof of hemorrhage
to me) is cited as dying of unknown causes. It goes on and on.

Ponder this:
If sea slugs are suddenly turning up with TTX - surely this is a new
species? especially considering there are no known sea slugs globally
that have ever contained TTX. Well these ones do, and they are a
funny wee creature that has top scientists puzzled. Only one of the
most sophisticated labs can detect this substance, a chemical that
incidentally can and has been artificially manufactured in the US.

It was interesting to finally see a picture of the culprit sea slug.
SEA SLUGS are NOT poisoning the water - a toxic mix of brodifacoum and
1080 ARE. I need to prove this.

If anyone sees one of these mystery slugs, please collect it using
gloves/protection and contact me. I will send it to a LAB and have it
tested for brodifacoum.

I will be posting research about TTX soon. This will disprove all Doc
claims I feel certain, however they are a very slick PR machine - and
rightly so they need to be!! there are a multitude of cover ups.

Regarding 1080 drops on peoples farms and bushlands. I received a
concerned call from a lady in Taranaki this morning devastated that
aerial drops will occur with 20m of her and others farm boundaries,
and in the water catchment that the region relies on for it's water
supply...

HOW IS THIS RIGHT???
HOW IS THIS JUSTIFIABLE TO POISON PEOPLES WATER, LAND AND ANIMALS???
HOW IS IT OK THAT BABIES ARE BEING BORN WITH DEFECTS AND CHILDREN
SUFFER FROM ADVERSE REACTIONS??

This disgusts and distresses me, and I hope it does you also. The
people who live on the land, who are surrounded by this poison know.
THEY KNOW the true effects, the true impacts, the cover ups, that it
DOES get into and contaminate the water. On a regular basis they face
the prospect of their land and water being contaminated. Living in
urban areas it is easy to be unaware.

National day of protest Sunday 15th November. www.enufisenuf.co.nz
www.1080pison.ning.com

Peace

--
Hi there, ongoing horrific computer problems have caused extreme
delays and frustration in getting new information online.

And now my website is playing up and I cannot access it at all to make
changes - lovely, and it all feels like an extreme exercise in
frustration currently.

Thank you so much to those who donated for the lab tests. I note the
criticism on the web regarding the use of EAV tests - to test those 11
samples in the lab would have cost thousands - money that Ocean Aware
does not have sadly. Just 2 samples to the lab cost almost $1,000.
So we are limited. Today there are more samples going to the LAB, so
that will be interesting and hopefully fruitful.....

When i manage to get my website to behave I will be adding the following....
- EAV description and summary
- lab and EAV test results
water samples from waiheke and coromandel test results
Toxicology overview (what does ppm/ppb mean??)
Brodifacoum info and research results

Thank you for your support!

best regards

Sarah
