Blog update

Hi there, ongoing horrific computer problems have caused extreme
delays and frustration in getting new information online.

And now my website is playing up and I cannot access it at all to make
changes - lovely, and it all feels like an extreme exercise in
frustration currently.

Thank you so much to those who donated for the lab tests. I note the
criticism on the web regarding the use of EAV tests - to test those 11
samples in the lab would have cost thousands - money that Ocean Aware
does not have sadly. Just 2 samples to the lab cost almost $1,000.
So we are limited. Today there are more samples going to the LAB, so
that will be interesting and hopefully fruitful.....

When i manage to get my website to behave I will be adding the following....
- EAV description and summary
- lab and EAV test results
water samples from waiheke and coromandel test results
Toxicology overview (what does ppm/ppb mean??)
Brodifacoum info and research results

Thank you for your support!

best regards

Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

Can you please comment on the below story? I am very concerned that you would consider using this method given the information described below. What we need now is hard science on what has worryingly killed these creatures, not more confusion. I am concerned that no one will take you seriously if you continue to use this method. We need strong opposition on this that will stand up in court but unfortunately it seems the samples and money has been wasted.

    Good luck,

    Randle

Hi Randle and thank you for your comments.

      Where to start....

Firstly the samples were NOT wasted. I personally collected samples and therefore I maintain responsibility for what happens to them.  The EAV tests were paid for by myself and a friend out of our own pockets.

No funds that were raised by Ocean Aware for Lab tests were used for EAV.  These funds paid for the Landcare (via Gribbles) tests on the x 2 penguin livers including dissections. These livers were tested for traces of Brodifacoum, and unfortunately the levels were below what the lab determines to be measurable.

We had 11 samples tested using EAV, and many of those samples were too decomposed (esp the livers/organs) to use for Lab tests, provided that we had the funds to do so.  I was not able to send any of the avian samples from Rangitoto to the lab for this reason.  I still hold some penguin samples for further testing, and just yesterday sent off another 2 samples to an accredited lab.

Extensive effort and research has gone into the effects of these bait drops and collecting samples.  I have some critics, however many more supporters. If these tests by Ocean Aware had not been carried out, Doc would not have even made an attempt to test for brodifacoum.     And their own results show that brodifacoum was found, however they maintain they are unaware how this could have happened.

Dr Meriel Watts, a world renowned pesticides expert fully supports EAV machines and the results they produce.  For thousands of people EAV and homeopathic medicines are the only way to diagnose and treat chemical poisoning and other illnesses not accepted by mainstream medicine.

I am FULLY aware of the detractors on the internet.   Has it occurred to you that the pharmaceutical giants could have a vested interest in discrediting a system that provides people with drug free healing??

EAV operates with extreme sensitivity. It can pick up contaminants at levels far below what conventional lab tests can show.  I would happily send off every viable sample to the lab if the funds allowed. As it is all the labs in NZ are interlinked and are part of the government. I have been confided in many examples where the labs have not proved to be trustworthy, however this is not usually the case. However it does happen - even people high up in their fields, in government institutions have advised me not to trust any labs in NZ.

So I hope you appreciate that it is all balancing act. I fully acknowledge that EAV can be viewed as a hindrance and a weakness, however I believe that overall this will prove not to be the case. I believe that we will be vindicated eventually.   Water samples are being sent to me from the Coromandel, and I am going to test them on the EAV, as I will test the water and sediment samples from Waiheke and Rangitoto.
Our world is a sensitive and delicate place, and even very minute amounts of contaminants have vast impacts. Science backs this up.  I do not believe there is any confusion - the bait drops have poisoned the marine life of the Hauraki Gulf. Brodifacoum baits with traces of 1080 have entered the food web, and will continue to contaminate it for years to come.

I throughly agree that we need strong evidence that will stand up in court. I have been in touch with a lawyer on these matters, and I aim to provide that exact information.

      Kind Regards
      Sarah
